Teeth Whitening/Bleaching

Teeth Whitening | Dental Bonding Long IslandBleaching products brighten teeth that have been stained or darkened by food, tobacco use, age or injury. We offer our patients both in-office and at-home bleaching solutions to help improve the color and overall brightness of teeth.

The ZOOM!® chairside whitening system is a safe, effective and fast way to brighten your teeth in a single office visit. The ZOOM! procedure is much more convenient than wearing trays or strips, making it a great choice for our busy patients.

ZOOM! is done in the office during one visit lasting 1-2 hours. At your appointment we apply a gentle, hydrogen peroxide-based whitening gel to your teeth. The gel is then exposed to a high-intensity light. After the treatment, your teeth will be up to 6-10 shades whiter.

Day White® Whitening provides patients with similar supplies, as well as an ACP Formula to help reduce excessive tooth sensitivity. This system mixes a flavored gel with an activator formula to produce whiter teeth in just a few days. The Day White trays only need to be worn for 30 minutes twice a day, compared to up to eight hours a day for other systems.

Dental Veneers

Veneers are very thin, tooth-colored shells that are custom-fit and bonded to the front of the teeth to give you a bright, white, even and attractive smile. Commonly made of composite (plastic) or porcelain, veneers make it possible to correct a variety of color and shape problems, including repairing broken, chipped or crooked teeth; whitening yellow or stained teeth; and improving the appearance of teeth that are too big or small.

Placing veneers requires two appointments. During the first, impressions are made of the teeth so that a set of veneers can be created specifically for your individual smile. At the second appointment, your natural teeth are buffed to prepare for the veneers, which are placed on the teeth with an etching solution and special light.

Veneers offer several advantages over crowns and other restorative techniques, as they are more durable, will not stain over time and tend to cost less. There is also less need to remove the natural tooth material in preparation.

Dental Bonding

Bonding is a special filling that can restore, reshape and rejuvenate the teeth, improving both the function and the appearance of your smile. By applying a thin layer of tooth-colored plastic to the front of the tooth and sculpting it like clay, your dentist may use bonding to correct chipped or cracked teeth, broken or misshapen teeth, stained teeth or spaces between the teeth.

During the bonding treatment, an etching solution is applied to the tooth, which roughens the surface for a stronger bond between the tooth and the plastic. A thin layer of bonding resin is then placed on the surface of the tooth and sealed in place with a special light. Several layers of resin may be needed in order to achieve the desired look of the tooth. Each layer takes only a few minutes to harden. The bonding material is then sculpted to the desired shape and colors to match your natural teeth. The results of the bonding procedure usually last for about ten years.
